Landfill Closed: Significant Weather Event - December 29, 2025

December 29, 2025 - Due to a Significant Weather Event declared for the region today,  the TRI R Landfill & Recycling Centre will be closed for the safety of staff and residents. Environment Canada has issued active winter weather alerts for the area, including freezing rain with potential ice accretion, significant snowfall, and strong winds, creating hazardous travel and working conditions. 

Important details:

• Hazardous winter conditions continuing today and tonight with ice and snow expected. 
• Strong wind gusts forecasted, increasing risk for travel and outdoor operations. 

Please do not visit the landfill today.  Stay safe and monitor local weather updates from Environment Canada.
