The Township of Armour is seeking public feedback about permitting backyard chickens on lots that are less than 4 hectares (10 acres) in size and without implementing site plan control. Backyard chickens are being considered to be permitted on properties with a dwelling, with the exception of waterfront lots. The township has opened up a consultation process and requests that comments on the draft by-law be directed to John Theriault via email at clerk@armourtownship.ca by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The consultation being conducted aims at considering the feasibility and desirability of allowing backyard chickens in residential areas, while ensuring the well-being of residents, animals and the community.
